Living in South Korea owning a Mac is like living in the US 15 years ago as a Mac owner. Theres still a lot of discrimination towards Mac development here in South Korea. Im finally glad they came out with this for the Mac, only if GOM player was available on the Mac...

As a Korean Mac user, Ive been waiting for a native Hanword (hwp) document viewer for a long time. I had a chance to try the "hanword 2006 for mac" a long time ago and as far as I can remember, the app was clumsy and the functionality was sinificantly lagging from its windows counterpart version. Now, compared to hanword 2006, the usability of this viewer has increased by leaps and bounds. The app runs fast and feels like a native mac app. However, I am disappointed that the app never seems to get the font right. This is understandable considering that windows and mac shares mostly different font families. I wish that they would incorporate an option for the users to designate both English and Korean, regular and bold fonts which would greatly enhance readability.

This app is a must have for those who have been out of the loop with HWP users... Please add copy/paste option at the least. At the most please add edit text and highlighting options ^^

I always concerned how I can use hwp files in my mac. But now I can open and read hwp files which are common doc type in South Korea. Thanks for Hansoft~~~

When is 한글과 컴퓨터 going to finally give us an up-to-date Mac version of HWP? Ive been waiting for years. At least now we can finally read HWP files in an easy fashion (which is why this deserves four stars), but thats not enough. We need either (a) a full Mac version of HWP, or (b) the ability to use the HWP viewer to save HWP files in a Mac-usable format so we can edit them, etc. If they can do that, then they get five stars from me.

I live in Korea and was very uncomfortable as a mac user because all the documents i can see were hwp files. I am satisfied even i can only "view" the hwp files. Thanks a lot!

Im a recent convert to Mac. Occasionally I write in Korean and receive hwp documents. With Hangul 2006 for Mac, although its speed wasnt anything I could write home about, I was able to manage my occasional needs: reading hwp documents, and writing in Korean with correct spelling and adequate word spacing. But alas, I was too quick to move on to Lion, and after which Hangul no more--I thought. You wont believe how incredibly happy and proud I was to find the Hanword viewer in the App store! More, a free and a timely update! Of course, I still have to write in Korean in the dark without a spell checker and with uncertainties. It would be so nice if something like a "tiny Hanword editor" becomes available for Mac Lion. It would mean IMHO a clear recognition of the beauty and science of the Hangul writing system. With a Hanword editor for Mac, I believe there will be many more willing converts to Mac, which is definitely easier and safer to use. (You can trust me on this. Ive been a Windows person for decades.) Id like to echo what the other reviewer (danew) so appropriately said: "한검사에 꼭 검토를 부탁드립니다."

Cool

I live and work in Korea and am happy to have found this download available in the Apple store. Really makes a lot of things easaier.

From time to time, South Koreans send me "hwp" format documents, and its just very difficult to work with it. This is a strict viewer, in the sense that it doesnt even allow filling in forms or any other editing, but at least I can read and search on the document. But still when I have to modify the content, I have to find a windows machine somewhere and thats such a pain. I had a version that worked on snow leopard, and this one works flawlessly in mountain lion.

This is probably one of the worst viewer app available in the market. And with some assumptions, I gather this app is only profitable due to its patented format, HWP, notoriously supplying Korean government and private businesses with their formats. Has anyone wondered, contrast to ALZ and EGG formats, which is also notorious among Korean Mac users, —I hope— why the reviews of this app are flooded with Korean and so postive towards a monopoly? The general apperance and how it works reminds its users of Macintosh era (1980s), where everything was sluggish and patience was the virtue of all users. This is beyond slow. Compared to the speed of searching in Preview using a sample PDF files, searching a word does not give you the list of the results nor allow the users to navigate through them fast enough. We are living in the world where IE11 exists, not IE6, and the way the search in this viewer app functions is much similar to how IE6 functioned on PCs. English support is somewhat doubtful as well. It says on the information that this app, or supposdely the developers, do support English, but the description, —I am reading this in US, by the way— is all written in Korean. I did not even notice its existence till my client suggested that I buy an office software suite made by a Korean company just to open this very format which decided to create this out of blue.

Doesnt work

Older version worked fine. I upgraded to this version and the software does not open. Do not download this version unless they fix it first.

At least this OS X version is smaller (compared to the Windows version) and does not have ridiculously large banner advert (as the Windows version has).
